Newbie Q: '05 A6 Bicycle hitch?

Is it possible to put a 1 1/4 or 2" inch hitch on the back of an A6 for the purposes of hauling a bike. Anyone had any experience with this. I'd like to not put a roof rack on. Thanks in advance.

It will take a 2 inch hitch; tough ground clearance. What bike do you ride? I have a Serotta.
