I have an '06 A6 3.2Q. My car is garaged. When I open the front door in the morning, I hear an odd noise, sort of like something powering up, and some sort of gear engaging.

Anyone else with the same car notice this sort of noise, and is this normal, or something that needs to be fixed. What is that noise, anyway?

Sounds like some sort of power up to me.

I think it is the fuel pump priming itself...normal by design

Only after sitting a while.

Meanwhile- fuel pump? Aren't fuel pumps these days in the gas tank? To me it sounds like the sound comes from up front-

I hear it too,'06 4.2.I thought it was my air suspension.
