Seriously, is that a good or bad thing? No tip, no tip lag?

Default CVT = Tip

Wait a minute, what do you mean no tip. There is a "simulated" manual switch mode, when if your revs are to the limiter it switches up (thing I do not like) ... may be CVT is the States is different from what we get in Europe (unlikely though), but trust me, S mode and "tip" modes are there - to tell you more, when you start in S, ESP activates ... and I only have 180hp 2,4 V6

I wondering if anyone has driven the fronttrack A6's and what they thought of it?
New info on FWD Audis:
http://forums.fourtitude.com/zerothread?id=4324605

Similar in concept to the sport differential in the S4.

As Pierre said, FWD per se not an issue, it's the crappy CVT.

However, if you know how to work it, it's not too bad. Quicker to 60 in the dry than quattro/tip, better mileage.

I think he means CVT = no torque converter.

There are lag issues apparently with the tip.

No diff in CVT or Tip between US, Europe or Asia.

Default New ESP for FWD

I think concept is different. New Active diff for S4 is accelerating outer wheel, while this one is braking the inside wheel. This is similar to BMW's ESP feature I recall having in previous 3 series.

Thanks for those who have real experience instead of those just beating down only what they have read.

Sometimes a smile is made from raw horsepower, sometimes its made from being "smart" with money. Im not saying Quattro is not great, cuz it is. Sometimes its easy to find negative cuz most people complain more than compliment. Audi makes a lot of CVT's and there must be some very happy people out there who own them. Thats what Im looking for, real experiences. If you hate the CVT cuz you own it, thats a different story.

Igor, I love the picture of your Audi next to what I guess is a Lada.

I haven't been to your part of the world since 1983!

Since when does the Ukraine get snow? ;-)

Yep, I am one happy owner of CVT - in fact that's my second Audi with CVT.
And even though I seriously look at Allroad or A8 as next car that is because of pneumatic suspension, not quattro or CVT.

Bargamon, indeed it's a Lada 2107 next to mine in the parking lot. Not a lot of them these days downtown Kiev Many things have changed since 1983 .... like everything except XY. on walls

I had an 03 all road with the adjustable suspension and it was fun in the lowest setting. The car would really sit low and hug the road. Ate tires every 15,000 miles! worth it I guess. It was a lease and i guess between the Twin Turbos and the pnumatics I figured it was a repair nightmare waiting to happen. I did love that car!
