I just ordered a set of OEM carpeted mats from the dealer. Because I am such a "good customer" they gave me a 15% discount bringing the price for the set of mats down to $269.78. I can tell I must be getting old because I can remember buying a set of mats for $20 as a teenager. Then again when I was a teenager cars had carburetors and manual chokes. Oh well, just laughing at the price of things you don't even think about.

With all the rain and snow in Chicago, I LOVE the OEM rubber mats. Perfect fit, and a quick hose down with a brush make them look brand new, everytime.

I'm in Chicago as well . . . I bought the OEM rubber mats the day I bought the car. They're functional and look fantastic.

I prefer the look of the carpeted mats. I will use my original OEM carpeted mats as my winter mats and the new carpeted mats as the sping/summer/fall mats.

The disk arrived today. Unfortunately my car is at the dealer for an airbag light and to change the oli and brake fluid. Hopefully the car will be released today and I can then load the disk and give a report.

You can get custom made carpeted mats from Stratmosphere that are much nicer than the OEM mats for a lot less than OEM pricing (~$140.00). Although their website only indicates up to '04, I had them make a set of floor mats and a trunk mat for my '08. Designer Mat does the actual manufacturing for them.
** Special note for you S6 owners: They now have a template for the C6 S6 (taken off of my OEM mats). The S6 front passenger mat has a slightly different profile than the A6 because of the wider transmission tunnel for the V10. The trunk mat over time conforms to the bulge in the trunk floor that accomodates the wider S6 spare - whereas I don't think a rubber mat would.
