Oil Change - overfill

Oil Change - overfill
Changed the oil for my 08 A6 3.2 Q this afternoon. Overfilled about half a quart of motor oil.
Will this overfill cause any engine issue? I had read somewhere about too much engine oil will cause oil leak in the engine seal in the future.
BTW - my 3.2 did not consume much engine oil. I only had to top the engine oil twice since I owned the car 4 years ago.
Please advise.
Thanks.

You will get all sorts of opinions as to how much oil is too much oil because there are no definitive studies on the subject. To be safe I would just extract 1/2 quart of oil.

If you are reading above the max mark on your dipstick, I'd use the dipstick hole and a thin pipe (1/4" or maybe even a 3/8") and suck the excess oil out.

Thanks for the responses! I took half a quart from the drain plug at the bottom by loosing the bolt by half a turn. The oil level is half way between MIN and MAX right now. I used a ram to do the oil change. Look like half a quart of old oil will remain inside the engine when changing oil with a ram. That caused overfill when putting in the recommended amount of new oil. I tried a oil extractor in the past. It almost kept a quart inside the engine. Maybe I did not use it properly.
