Oil leak 2005 A6
Took my car in to have the oil leak fixed. Was told that they confirmed the oil leak but have to check with Audi USA because it is a 2005 model.
I don't understand why. When my 2001 A6 had a cam seal leak at 30,000 miles it got fixed. Why not check with Audi USA to fix a 2005 with 2200 miles?

Audi wants to hear about every little thing
I was discussing some things about my A6 with my dealer, and he mentioned that Audi may want to send some people down to take a look. He said they are very interested in hearing about any A6 problems so they can identify recurring problems as early as possible. I guess that's a good thing.

Update
Just heard from my Audi dealer. They are still waiting for word back from Audi USA but they are pretty sure that I was correct when I told them that my oil leak was probably from the cam seals. They have to order some parts and I won't have my car back till Tuesday or Wednesday. Good thing I have a 2004 A6 loaner.
BTW when I got into the loaner on Thursday I figured that it was an A4. When I got out and checked I discovered that it was an A6. So was my previous Audi, which we had for three years till we got the 2005 A6 on December 1. The 2005 seems so much larger.

Update 2
Got call from dealer. They got OK from Audi USA to do repair but are waiting for some parts (for the cam seals or tensioner?) Car has been there since Thursday of last week; was told I should hear from them on Thursday of this week.
Not too concerned since I have a 2004 A6 as a loaner.

Re: Mine took 6 days total in shop, mostly part shipping.
Thanks for your message. Looks like my car will be there for six days as well.
I hope you also had a suitable loaner.

Got my car back; my diagnosis was wrong
It seems my diagnosis was wrong; the oil leak came from timing chain housing. They removed the housing covers on both sides, along with a few other items that probably got in their way, used two tubes of sealant, and put in 8 quarts of Syntec 5W40 oil.
All told my car was in the shop for four and a half days
