After 3 months and 1840 miles I discovered an oil leak under our 2005 A6 3.2. Our 2001 A6 had an oil leak from cam tensioner seals but after 3 years and 30,000 miles. It was a big expensive repair but was covered under warranty.

I will call the dealer on Monday.

I had the exact same thing at 1400 miles. It was the cam seal and was fixed quickly and painlessly. Hope yours turns out the same.

Thanks for the reply. When they did it on my 2001 it was an all-day afair and I got a loaner. If it would only take an hour or so I'd be willing to wait for it. Any idea how long it took for your repair?

Had this happen on my A4. No probs yet with the A6.

All-day affair for me. They gave me a C240 for a loaner.

Life Rules

The part had to be ordered from Germany (mine was one of the 1st arrivals) so it took a week total. I was given an A4 loaner and was kept appraised frequently. Once the part arrived, it was put in w/in half a day. My understanding is that it is somewhat difficult to get at, requiring significant engine disembly.
