I have a small oil leak in the front, seems it is from the timing chain cover and also from the rear. How difficult is it to remove the
front timing chain cover.
I do have the sealant and I do work on cars as a hobby.
I also have a small oil leak in the rear. I have to be determine
if it is coming from the top - valve cover or is it the rear main engine seal.
The car has 132,000 miles.
Any suggestions would be helpful.
Thanks

The 3.2 does not have a timing chain cover in the front, only the rear. If you have a leak from the front up high on the engine it is most likely the valve cover gaskets.

The correct thing to do would be clean the engine extremely well and trace the leak. However, if you are handy just buy the valve cover gaskets and gamble that will fix it. You can replace the valve cover gaskets in less time than it would take to clean engine. I did mine (4.2) along with plugs air filter and serpentine belt in just a few hours. As far as the timing chain covers go, first I hear they don't go bad as often as you think, second, if they are bad, well you can cross that bridge when you have to.

In my 2005 A6 3.2L, with 102K miles, have a small oil leak on the front passenger side.
And there is just a slightly higher oil leak on the rear, looks like
more on the passenger side?? Hope it is not the rear engine seal.
I have the OE valve cover gasket and will replace that and see what happens.

I am having the same issue with my 3.2L Anyone, know the part number for the seal? I don't suspect it's a hose leak under clamp. It is located right in front of of the passenger side cam. Any input would be appreciated. I could not locate the seal on Audi microfiche..

From the description, I think you are talking about the infamous Vacuum pump (front of head passenger side). Audi only sells in the USA one of the 3 gaskets required to reseal the thing but there are a couple of third party kits around. Not a difficult job. On guy in the forum successfully used sealant on the pump cover plate for reference - Keli Kelisko, he probably has a very good youtube video of the job.
