Covering it with vinyl wrap is also an option.

Default Crossing my fingers :/

Just got some sonus aluminum restore and mazerna intensive polish today via FedEx. Unfortunately I lost daylight so I'll be waiting until the morning. I'll take some pictures and document my results by tomorrow night.

I just purchased this polishing kit (link) and some Menzerna Power Gloss Compound (link)

I'll report back with results; it will be a few weeks.

Default Looking good!

So today has been quite cold here for Florida. Wasn't able to do the whole car so I decided to start on the trunk. Here is the before and after photos.

Very nice. By hand, orbital, or? Also, did you finish with a sealant of any kind?

By hand unfortunately. Took much more elbow grease than I would have ever expected. I'm going to need an orbital or a drill attachment to do the right and left side window trim pieces. I alternated between the Sonus aluminum restore and Mazerna intensive polish. For the more stubborn areas of the trunk trim I followed up with Mothers mag and aluminum polish. For my applicators I used microfibers, terry towels, and a more coarse fiber scrub pad.

My trunk was actually the worst looking trim piece on the vehicle, looks awesome now. I can tell a huge difference even from across a parking lot. For my window and trim pieces, I tried a few areas and got barely noticeable differences and some spots weren't coming off very easily. I think both sides are going to be a b**ch. I'm definitely going to see what a power tool can help me accomplish during my next attempt.

...and no I did not follow up with any paint sealant. Does anyone have any suggestions on what I might use for that?

Cool. Anything is better than nothing, but I'd use some kind of synthetic sealant or wax. Klasse Sealant Glaze, Meguiars Cleaner Wax or any of their NXT waxes, etc.

I made my life easier by thinking of it as "pewter" trim and left it at that.

This is definitely something AoA should have addressed by now. Bad enough they don't pay to replace it, but why did they continue using it for so long.
