Forgot to mention that the first thing I did was replace the N80 valve.

Default same issue!

Having the same damn issue on my C6 Avant. Purge valve replaced and they also did a smoke test and couldn't find anything.
Sounds like replacing the gas cap or charcoal canister won't fix it either according to one member? This is redunkulous!
BTW, is the charcoal canister located under the spare tire well like other Audis? I replaced mine before in my B5 S4 and it was simple.

I have one more question..
If evap. is the issue, would it be okay to drive couple more hundred miles with CEL on?
Generally speaking, solid CEL means you still can drive the car. It just will consume more fuel and emit more junk.
Do not drive the car if the CEL is blinking.

I took it to a reputable indy shop. Smoke test and replacing the purge valve was about $200.

My car is 2006 Audi A6 Base-Line.
About a week ago, I had a check engine light on and went to the Autozone to scan the code.
The error code was P2404.

The funny thing is that it came on for couple days and automatically went off.
And, suddenly, it came on again last night.

It never happend past 5 years of driving this vehicle, but once, only once, I put the gas in the tank while the engine was running. I think this might the problem with the issue.

What is going on with my car?
Does anybody have a similar experience that I am having?
I'm out of warranty so I am scared to death to go to dealer.
Yes, I have an 2005 audi A4 quad 3.2 and I have reset the check engine light several times with my obd tool and I had it serviced before going through emissions but couldn't pass emissions after $1600 dollars later I'm still stuck with this constant code, I'll have to take it to the dealer for the air bag recall maybe I can get some free information concerning this issue, will pass it on.

I’ve researched this topic for years now, and my take is that the only permanent solution is to replace the ECU. Those that have done anything less have had the 2404 return at some point

FACTS. Mine has been replaced for 2 years now and the dreaded 2404 has not come back. Bite the bullet.

I discovered another permanent solution. I sold the car! No more P 2404. First and last VW product for me, especially after seeing the Netflix Dirty Money episode on VW.
