That's not even a valid Audi part number structure. Should be XXX-XXX-XXX with possible letter code on the end and/or color code.

The part number that is indicated in the TSB #2012483/5 is 96685500, unless that is a repair/warranty code.

It refers to an "access/start control unit (J518)" and "Immobilizer Control Unit".

Not sure if it is the same, but I had to replace a steering column w/access to start module attached. It relates to the immobilizer control.

The part no. 4F0-419-065-D
Part cost: $956.

Jerry

2005 A6 3.2L, 89,700 miles.

That's the labor code that the dealer is suppose to use to get reimbursed. That is not the part number.

Thanks for the link.

The post says they were able to clear the fault with the VAG-COM but how can you establish a link if you cannot turn on the ignition?

You have to jump the terminal 15 relay.

As KevinGary points out, this was a dealer purchase. The dealership did the work which was covered under an extended warranty policy.
