Just bought a 2006 A6 Avant today. Great price of 16,300 plus I pay a fee to my dealer over the auction price, plus it has a crack in the windshield and I need to buy 4 tires so total package should be under $18K. Great price I think considering what I've read on the Forum.

The car is night blue pearl effect with Amaretto interior with perium package and cold weather package (51.5K new).

The car has 48,600 miles so it just barely went under the CPO.

My current other cars are a 2006 A8 and a 2000 A6 Avant.

I have a few questions-Please answer whatever you can:

Question 1: The MMI displays Navigation not active. I don't see Navigation listed on the window sticker-can you purchase the entire device on Ebay or somewhere and if so is it a plug and play install? I looked in the trunk and I don't see a DVD unit so it's more than just missing the disk.

Question 2: It does not have an XM unit. Anyone know if it takes the 8E0035593A or the 4E0035593A or 4E0035593C unit?

Question 3: The car came from NY and I live in PA where we don't need the front licence plate. If I remove the front licence holder do I need to purchase a plastic insert?

Anyway thanks in advance, this is better than a new girlfriend.

Question 1: Check the trunk, I have the sedan but the module should be located in the read to the left on the other side of the panel with the hand switch in it.

Question 2: No idea, I'd check with the dealer.

Question 3: There are two screws underneath the front filler, you have to remove these and then replace it with a new middle filler. Its an easy job, just look underneath your current filler and you will see the screws.

Default Have a similar car - congrats!

love my 2006 Avant - you will too. They are pretty rare here in CT, but that's good.

check and see if you have bluetooth also - it wasn't clear on my sticker, but I found it in the menu on MMI and it works awesomely!

as for the Navi, if it's not on the sticker, you don't have it.

You can install an OEM navi if you are handy. There as a guy on ebay that sells them all the time and is from what I hear reliable. $1,400 shipped or so. I've got no affiliation, I was thinking of going the same way a while back and never did, as the Nuvi I bought works way better and is portable. Search ebay for audi and mmi

Default Recalls for tailgate

be sure the dealer checks to see if the recalls were performed on the tailgate. There are 2 actually.

One for the tailgate slamming way too fast (you really could lose a finger or two)

Second is for the rear washer pump - it leaks and sprays fluid all over the electronics - it happened to us and dealer replaced all the electronics in the back driver side corner. Not sure while the washer pump is over the electronics...

Default Thanks-any other 2006 a6/avant recalls I should check?

I only have 1500 miles left on warrentee so I want to make sure I check everything that will probably break the week it expires.

Default Here is a pic of the missing nav and satellite radio boxes

Do you think I could find just the nav box for the trunk and maybe everything would just work? I know that the xm receiver is a plug an play and it usually sells for under $100 on Ebay.

Thanks for your replies, I always appreciate the help I've had on this forum over the years. I've had a 1980 4000, 1982 5000, 1990 V8, 1997 A8, 2004 A8, 2000 A6 avant and now this 2006 A6 avant. Almost 30 years of continuous Audi ownership. Some would call me crazy.

You could also call me crazy as I had (4) Audis over the last 27 years, latest being a '06 A6 Avant.
