Default Question on constant power source

Hello,

I recently purchased a mObridge audio unit to interface my iPod with the factory stereo in my 2007 A6. It works... to a point... but after being idle for a certain period of time (certainly overnight) the mObridge unit goes into an initialization loop from which it doesn't recover - I have to manually bring it out of the loop using the valet key.

I've been speaking with mObridge about the problem and for awhile they were confident the problem was power - the unit requires constant power. For better or worse I confirmed that my installer used the recommended power link - at the CD changer - for both power and ground.

Is there any good source of information for power management in the car? The only test I've done so far is to roll down the windows and lock the car, leaving it alone for 4 hours. When I leaned into the car and hit the CD changer button power WAS present.

Is the CD changer a source of constant power, or is it 'managed' by the vehicle?
