Remote "Smart key" Battery

Wow this is neat Audi only warranties the remote batteries for 12 months. So at 18 months it costed me $52.00 to render my A6 "smart key" functions as usable. Maybe not so "smart" after all. I have a funny feeling Nissan batteries probably last a bit longer than 18 months.

what battery type do i need to get? I have a 2000 A6 laser cut smark-key.
i can seperte into 2 pieces (top part with key, lower part with all the buttons and what i presume to be battery) but how do i get at the battery?
any help on which battery and how to replace would be awesome.
