Default Remote/Key Problem

For a couple of months I have been getting the "Replace key battery" message in my driver info screen. The dealer states that it is not the battery, but a problem with the key circuitry. Furthermore, Audi knows about the problem and there is currently no fix for the problem. It has now gotten to the point that the remote (nor the keyless start) no longer works. Has anyone else experienced a similar problem?

Default Yes, swapping to my second keyfob has, at least temporarily, solved the problem.

I didn't get the <replace key battery> message, but the key acted as though the battery was getting weak. Sometimes the doors would unlock, then other times wouldn't recognize the keyfob. Pressing the unlock button on the keyfob didn't work, only using the "old-fashioned" key in the door would unlock the car. Usually after that, the car would recognize the key and start/stop buttons would work.

So far, the second keyfob doesn't show those tendencies, which would seem to indicate the battery in my first keyfob may need replacing. I have not been to the dealer yet, however.

Default Yes, swapping batteries has solved the problem for the time being, but . . .

I noticed the "replace battery" warning on start-up on and off for about a week. I swapped the battery from my spare fob, but I think that battery is weak as well as the sensors don't pick up the key's signals unless I'm fairly close, but otherwise, the system seems to be operating normally. I plan to replace the battery with a fresh one tomorrow to see if it improves the range. Thanks for the heads-up though - this may prove to be an issue for many of us with the "Advanced Key" system.

I had this very problem. So I took it to my dealer and they stated that it was a known problem. They have ordered me two new keys.
