Default Replacement key needed, how much?

I figured I'd ask this on this board due to more traffic, but I have an 05 A8 with the advanced key, same one as in the A6's I'm assuming, but I only have one key. Question is do I have to get an extra key fob from the dealer or can I buy one of ebay or somewhere else you recommend and they take it to dealer for programming? What do they charge for this usually? Thanks

Search in forum yielded $300 give or take for the key and programming.

Is that from your Audi Dealer?

You have to do it at the dealer because to program the key they need to connect your car's commputer to the central computer at Germany. I had my programmed for $100 but you can program as many keys as you want. I also has a single key when I got my car. I opted for the second advanced key and one more dumb key. I asked them to program both at the same time so I save money.

I know the dealer has to do it but my question was could you buy a key fob of the Internet someplace and then take that to dealer to get programed? Has anyone done that?

Hi I have a 2006 Audi A-4 S-line only one key fob. Did you buy the key fob on-line then to the Audi dealer to progrem or purched and progrem at Audi Dealer.
How much for each option. Thank you

I believe you can only program a total of 4 keys (MAX) to one vehicle.
