My '05 A6 came with a Sirius tuner which I plan to replace with a newly ordered XM tuner. Is there anything particular that I should be aware of when swapping the Sirius module out and the XM module in? Will my system go in to component protection once the swap is done?
Thx

I have XM in my A6 but prefer the Sirius in my A4.
Off topic, but does anyone know if the XM/Sirius modules are interchangeable between the B7 A4 and C6 A6?

Yeah, I think it was necessary. No radios yet that can do both. And I also have other radio's on XM, so I pretty much want to stay with them. They already have pretty much the same programming (with the exception of Stern vs Opie & Anthony and MLB vs NFL) so there's nothing lost there. Plus the XM module for my car only cost $100 - now I have both.

I was looking for somebody to trade with!! Where were you when I had posted looking for the trade?
No big - I doubt it would have worked out. It seems that the sat modules for the '05 A6 are pretty specific to just that platform.

Found it here . . . http://www.audiporschevwparts.com/
I've never ordered from them before, so I can't comment yet on the the whole service - shipping portion. But their prices can't be beat.
They've changed model numbers on the modules about three times (according to Etka). You can find the two latter modules for $450 to $500 at various places. But the original module, which is what is supposed to come in my car (and I suspect yours), can be found at a couple of places for $100 to $150.
PM me if you want more info.

I'll trade my XM for your Sirius, if you still need one. Been thinking of doing the swap for a while now. It comes from a 2005.5 A6. Let me know and we can chat off line.

I put the XM in mine for $100. I wanted baseball games. Now you can get the Best of Sirius for $4 more a month. You get Howard Stern, NFL games, Playboy, Martha Stewart to name a few chanels. If you have Sirius and get the best of XM, you DO NOT get the Baseball games. I thought this was interesting. They are now combining stations... I'd go XM and get both NFL and MLB games, if you like sports.
