After reading that post below, I did some unscientific research on Audi's resale value. From what I've dug up, it looks like we are even on the entry level and pretty close on the mid level. Also, the A8 compares favorably to the S-Class and 7-series. Besides the fact that we paid less for a comparable car in the first place.
Again, this is an unscientific using residual values from cars.com.

2005 C6 3.2 = Overall cost at 15K per year for 5 years is $55,288 for gas, repairs, insurance and depreciation. That's $0.74 per mile.
2005 Mercedes E320 4Matic = $62,920 total cost, or $0.84 per mile.
2005 BMW 530 = $59,715 or $0.80 per mile.
2005 Caddy STS = $59,166 or $0.79 per mile.
2005 Acura RL = $60,033 or $0.80 per mile.
Operating costs are below normal on the Caddy, Audi, and Mercedes. Operating costs for the Acura and BMW are higher than normal.
The C5 was substantially cheaper to operate over 5 years, than the BMW, and on par with Mercedes.
2001 BMW 530 = average purchase price is $26,595. Overall cost at 15K miles per year for gas, repairs, and insurance as well as depreciation is $44,175 or $0.59 per mile.
2001 E320 = $0.56 per mile or $41,700 for 5 years.
2001 A6 2.7t = $0.56 per mile or $41,661 for 5 years.
If you want a newer car, of course depreciation takes a bigger hit. A 2004 Passat GLX will run you $0.55 per mile over 5 years. Interestingly, a new Toyota Sienna minivan will cost $0.52 per mile for 5 years, and a Honda Odyssey will cost around $0.49 per mile for 5 years.

2005 545 = total outlay $70,412 or $0.94 per mile for 5 years at 15K miles per year. Depreciation and maintainence cost are both at the extreme high end of the scale.
2005 A6 4.2 = $62,189 or $0.83 per mile.
2005 Mercedes E500 = $70,342 or $0.94 per mile.

look up cars

this makes sense.
And entry level sedans have closer and higher residuals. This also makes sense since the market is more liquid (ie. greater number of cars, buyers, sellers).
I think Audi's low residuals and hence high depreciation are due to perceived or real expected repair costs. This is supported by the fact that they are one of the most expensive cars to buy extended warranties on.

model listed yet.
How did you get $0.69? It may be that it calculated tax and reg based on location since it asks for your zip code. I'm in Cali, so that tends to be a bit expensive.

ALG has released Depreciation Rating for all vehicles ranging from 5 stars to 1 star (best to worst). The Audi A8 is two stars while the BMW 7 series is 3 stars and the M-B S class is 3 stars. The facts can be found at: http://www.alg.com/deprratings.aspx
BTW, Audis (except the A4) typically do terrible at the Manheim Auto Auction.

There is no way that they do better than Audi. Jaguar's reliability and resale value are generally worse or much worse than Audi's reliability and resale value are.
