That article does, however, say a twin turbo V8 with over 600 hp. Even with FSI and twin turbos or a triplecharger (supercharger with twin turbos), I don't think Audi will get 600+ hp from an engine with only 4.2L of displacement. With any kind of forced induction, the 4.2L V8 will produce 590 hp tops.
As for torque, I would say 538 lbs/ft tops with FSI, FI and 4.2L.
A much safer bet for the new RS 6 would be a normally aspirated 5.5L FSI V10 (with an 8,200 or 8,250 RPM redline) producing 550 hp and 435 lbs/ft of torque.
As for transmission in the new RS 6, I would say the, gulp, 7-speed R Tronic (not the longitudinal 7-speed DSG, that would be the 7 speed S Tronic-longitudinal, of course) from the R8.

Having driven the S6 for 3 months now, it is hard to imagine what a 550 hp version will be capable of. Given that the S6 has won or finished 2nd in most of the comparos with the M5, E63, I would have to believe that the RS6 would be judged the hands down best hi performance sedan in the world. But I don't know where (in the USA anyway) anyone would come close to using the full capabilities of that car. I've scared myself a couple of times already in testing the handling limits of the S6.
