Ok, this weekend I finally got a chance to take the S6 out for a drive with a new set of 18" snow tires. And the ride is much smoother than with the stock 19's. In fact it's smoother than my previous BMW with 19's or my SL55 with 19's.
And the difference is so great, greater than when I went to 19's from 18's on the BMW and SL55, that I wonder if the stock Conti's have a really stiff sidewall. In anycase, I think with some after-market tunning the S6 can be tamed, in regards to its somewhat hard ride.

What snow tires do you have on if you don't mind me asking? Also, how do the 245's look on the car? I'm ordering mine this week from tire rack and am contemplating between dunlops, bridgestones, or conti......on 18" rims of course.

Greetings,
I live in Steamboat Springs where 432 inches of snow fell last winter. Currently my 05 Audi A6, 4.2, S-line and Subie Outback XT are shod with Dunlop WinterSport M3's. Prior to switching to them last winter, Blizzak's were the tire of choice. The Bridgestone's are somewhat better in deep snow but the Dunlop's work quite well and absolutely excel when the roads are dry - particularly when cornering and under heavy braking. I leave them on the Subie year 'round. Tire Rack does a great job too! Good luck,
PS We're under a winter storm warning tonight thru Wednesday: 1-2 feet in town, 2-3 feet forecast for the mountains!
