Which is constantly dirty and full of carbon and other crap. I've taken many engines apart to find the top end covered in a dark honey coloured layer of gunk.

Plus, there isn't much pressure at the top part of the engine, it just gets "washed" by the oil.

what you are describing is just from people that run their cars till they die with no oil changes on time and using garbage "jiffy lube" service shops that use god knows what kind of oil.

Ok, I'm not getting into an online "fight" with you as well... I've rebuilt engines before and work on them, you do not. That is a clean looking upper engine.

This is correct. The breather system isn't designed to keep your camshafts clean. It is designed to limit emissions and also to limit carbon deposits in areas that are not lubricated by the engine oil, mainly the air intake system and the combustion chamber. The engine oil contains chemicals that clean engine components which are lubricated by the engine oil. That picture has nothing special for a 90K miles engine that has had oil changed at least every 10K miles. The inside of the supercharger and the combustion chamber however would be nasty.

Don't engage the trolls.
