Default selling/trading my 2005 A6 4.2

Getting rid of my 2005 A6 4.2 for a new S4. My A6 is in perfect condition dark blue/amaretto nav. loaded. Wheels have been refinished and new tires. This car is truly mint without a scratch and always garage kept from new. They won't give me squat for the car and I'm too nervous about selling it myself in this economy. Anybody interested?

Thanks for your reply. They will only alow $16-16.5K. This is pitiful for a $55K car. They seem to be selling in the high teens to low 20's retail, still pretty bad. There are some merits to the trade as I get approx. $1000 cedit on my Md. sales tax plus $1500 Audi loyalty money. This car is probably the best car ever and it is stupid to let it go! I just feel like treating myself to a new ride after six years. I you have any friends who would be interested let me know quickly as it is going to the dealer next week. Doesn't sound like a terrible trade-in offer. I don't think an '05 4.2L A6 with 76k will sell for much over $20k these days? Just keep the car, buy the S4 and take your time selling the A6 (or just keep it as a spare car).

The total value of the package is $19K, which is 35% of the original price. I think it is a fair deal on a 6 year old car with 76K miles.

You are right and I would definitely keep it for a spare car or for a wife. But I got rid of the wife and have a truck for a spare vehicle and don't need another vehicle. My kids are grown and live in the city and don't need a car. I guess it will go to the dealer next week and someone will get a wonderful A6 4.2. It's been a great ride but after six years I'm looking for a change and the S4 is awesome. Thanks

I bet you lost more money on the wife than you lost on the A6
