Service Indicator

The driver infomation shows service required at 12000 miles. I called the dealer to schedule the 1 year/15000 miles service. The dealer told me that I have to wait until either 1 year time or 15000 miles. The Audi has no oil quality sensor like Mercerdes. The service indicator is just a count down on days or miles. Somehow the MMI is still using the 2003 Audi service schedule.

This sounds very odd, given my service department specifies the first service at 8000 kms, just under 5000 miles, for my 3.2l A6. Unless your model is using synthetic oil, which has a life expectancy approx. double regular oil, I think 12000 miles is way too long, especially if you have bought the car, and plan to keep it for 10 years or more.
Check what your manual states as the service intervals, and ask to speak to the service manager to be safe.

Let me clarify. The car had the 5000 miles service. The next service according to the manual is at 15000 miles odometer reading. That would be a 10000 miles interval. However, the service indicator has already shown at 12000 miles odometer reading. Hence the dealer told me that the sevice interval in the MMI was incorrectly programmed.
