Default Was sitting in the car today and it died at a stop light?

I have a 2005 A6 with about 17,000 miles and all of sudden it decided to die while I was sitting at a stop light. I turn the ignition and it started back up. Should I be concerned about this or was it just a fluke? Not sure if it is worth taking to Audi dealership. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Default Me too!! Light turned green, gave the car some gas....

died!! Pushed the car out of the intersection to the nearest curb (very embarrassing) turned the key & restarted with no problems since!?!? Of course Audi Service could not "duplicate" the problem.

Has never happened again. Had several engine warning lights come up about 2 weeks after & once again Audi Service could not "duplicate" the problem. Have gone about 3 months now without any dying & about 1 1/2 months with no engine warning lights.

Default I think I had this happen once as well...

I was parked and idling the car waiting for my wife to assist my elderly in-laws into the car and the car just turned off. I was not quite sure if I did it as I was thinking of jumping out to help my wife load them in the car or if it really did just quit. Anyway I restarted and no more instances.

Someone once told me the difference between analog and digital systems. An analog system (the old mechanical distributors, points, etc.) will degrade slowly and you can usually tell things are getting worse and you need a tune-up. A digital system is always prone to just crash at times with no warning! Ah-h computers make our lives so much more interesting.

Default Hopefully just a fluke, but defintely take it in and document the problem in case it persists..

We had this as well other electrical/computer related problems in my wife's 2000 Volvo S80. Eventually, Volvo bought the car back from us as I stressed the safety hazard of the car stalling in intersections, etc. I also checked the NTSB website and found numerous other similar complaints about the S80. The car companies will listen when you start talking safety hazard and NTSB letters, etc.

The chances are that this is just one faulty relay, ecu or the like, but you never know when it comes to electronics in a car these days. You can probably have it fixed and the problem will never be repeated, but it is interesting that several others are noting the same symptoms on their C6s.
