- Not very popular, and it costs Audi too much to continue offering it on the same production line?
- Made obsolete/unnecessary by new suspension tweaks in facelifted 2009 C6?
- Reliability?
- Any other possible explanations?

Agreed. Very low demand.

I'd be surprised if it was that high.
It was a $2300 option on the 4.2. Making it $58,600 with no other options. Add tech, nav, ami and your at $62,340 only $8k shy of a base A8 which includes air suspension.
I don't think the dealers ordered too many stock lot vehicles with air. My bet is once someone optioned out a special order to get an A6 with air the salesman dropped a few grand off an A8 on the lot and made the sale. (Just a guess.)

Not on ours :)
Our A6 Avant has it, along with all other options except for "full" leather and the hideous 18" wheels. That car came in at around 63k, and let me tell you, the air suspension and adaptive cruise are the best two things ever.

True. No upgrade path for the avant.
