Default Start Button Mod question

I want to do the start button mod but I can't tell if the trim around the newer button is black as opposed to the graphite color in the 05-07 models. Does it match?

it doesnt match the new button is black. I did it to mine an 05, but you wont really notice it unless you pay attention to details

Both the button and the trim don't match or just the trim?

I can live with the trim not matching but I am also going to get the parking brake as well if the "button" color is the same. Thanks.

It's not hard at all (5 minutes if that).

nope not hard at all. There is a post somewhere on this site that even has step by step pictures. Also I would use a coat hanger to push the button out if your finger isn't long enough like mine to make that loop.

I just did this today. The button color is off slightly but it is difficult to tell when it is installed. The installation took all of 3 mins. You remove the shifter boot along with the trim and push the old button out. New one plugs right in. Simple install and adds a little bit of style.

What is this push button mod? Does it replace the key crank with a button for starting the car? Can someone post DIY steps?

The color seemed perfect on my 2007! I didnt touch the leather boot at all. I used a very sharp knife blade (with masking tape placed on the carbon fiber to prevent contact scratches) to nudge the old swith up a tiny bit and then used a second knife to lever it out until I could get my fingernail under the edge - then it just easily lifted straight up! Under 3 minutes - including finding the roll of masking tape and protecting the CF edge.

Just do it! Really nice mod!
