2006 A6 4.2L 95K miles...
My power steering column doesn't move in and out when I push the buttons, but it still tilts normally. There is no sound when I try to telescope in or out.
Any ideas what the problem is or how to fix it? Thanks!

The same thing happened to mine at 45k and then again at 90k. I am now at 130k and am waiting for it to go again. Both times the dealer said that the entire column had to be replaced. My recollection is that it was about $1200. Luckily covered under warranty both times.

it's most likely either the switch or the motor, one way to check is using the memory seating, this is only if the steering wheel has different telescoping positions for the two memory seats settings, if the telescoping motor works with the memory seat switch than the steering cloumn switch is bad, if it does not move than the motor is probably bad, could also be a short circuit inbetween

This ^^^.
I haven't changed my position for about three months now. I recall it worked then. Wife drove the car recently and the telescope adjustment was inoperable when she went to update her memory profile.
