Default Strange noise coming from A6 dash (video attached)

anybody ever heard this noise? or have any idea what it is?

it's doing this constantly and not increasing or decreasing due to throttle. obviously it's not a good noise...

Sounds like it could be one of your distribution vent motors for the HVAC system. Your car has quite a few motors in the dash that adjust the climate vents. Does it change when you change temperature settings/fan speed? Does it still happen when the climate control is completely turned off? A little more info and we can pin it down!

it actually goes away when you turn the blower speed up to 6 or 7 and higher. but anything below that (when it slows down) it starts whining again...help!

thanks!

Sounds like it may be the blower motor.

Agreed, if fan speed changes the sound then it is most likely the blower motor. What year?

Have you had your cabin air filter changed or serviced recently? If it is not sealed properly it can cause a whistling sound as well. Have you looked in the vents with a flashlight? An object may be lodged in the vent (especially if you have children? If it turns out to be the fan blower motor we can get you one for $126.00 4F0-820-020-A. You have piqued my curiosity, keep me posted!

i can't see anything, but it seems to be some sort of friction causing the noise because at low speeds, it gets slower. it's almost like it's dragging something, and when it goes really fast, it just fades away, almost like the friction becomes less because of the pace the fan is moving. does that make sense??

it's blowing hot and cold air fine, so i don't think the blower is "broken" per say...i'm just so confused!
