Default Cleaned throttle body

My dealer just cleaned the throttle body and I haven't had the problem since, hopefully this takes care of it.
One thing I noticed is faster acceleration and better throttle response.

How many miles do you have on your car? I used to do this on my last car but never thought to check it with my new C6.

37K, I bought it used and there was a little lag when stepping on the gas, I though that's just how it ran. Now it's like a new car, FAST off the line!
I hope it took care ove the WOT issue, time will tell.

Default The '98 and '99 2.8 could have crankcase ventilation problems that would ice up

the throttle body when temps were very low (think 0F or -18C). Prolonged driving at one speed would bring it out. No issues with the 3.0, 2.7t, or 4.2.

Audi performed a recall.

Quoted from NHTSA:

"Make : AUDI Model : A6 Year : 1999
Manufacturer : VOLKSWAGEN OF AMERICA, INC
NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID Number : 04V495000 Recall Date : OCT 08, 2004
Component: VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL
Potential Number Of Units Affected : 28300
Summary:
ON CERTAIN PASSENGER VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH 2.8L, V6 5-VALVE ENGINES, AND AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSIONS, WHILE DRIVING DURING EXTREMELY LOW AMBIENT TEMPERATURES THE THROTTLE MAY FREEZE IN AN OPEN POSITION DUE TO ICE ACCUMULATING IN THE THROTTLE BODY.
Consequence:
IF THIS OCCURS, THE VEHICLE MAY FAIL TO REDUCE SPEED WHEN THE DRIVER LIFTS HIS/HER FOOT FROM THE GAS PEDAL. THIS LOSS OF VEHICLE CONTROL COULD RESULT IN A CRASH WITHOUT WARNING.
Remedy:
AUDI WILL INSTALL A REPLACEMENT THROTTLE BODY KIT FREE OF CHARGE. THE RECALL BEGAN ON OCTOBER 29, 2004. OWNERS MAY CONTACT AUDI AT 1-800-822-2834. OWNERS OF VEHICLES WHICH ARE NOT REGISTERED IN THE COLD-WEATHER STATES OF ALASKA, COLORADO, CONNECTICUT, DELAWARE, IDAHO, ILLINOIS, INDIANA, IOWA, MAINE, MARYLAND, MASSACHUSETTS, MICHIGAN, MINNESOTA, MONTANA, NEBRASKA, NEVADA, NEW HAMPSHIRE, NEW JERSEY, NEW YORK, NORTH DAKOTA, OHIO, OREGON, PENNSYLVANIA, RHODE ISLAND, SOUTH DAKOTA, VERMONT, WASHINGTON, WISCONSIN, AND WYOMING, WILL BE NOTIFIED OF A SERVICE ACTION, UNDER WHICH THEY WILL BE PROVIDED THE FREE REMEDY UPON REQUEST.
Notes:
VW/AUDI RECALL NOS. JB/JG. CUSTOMERS CAN ALSO CONTACT THE NATIONAL HIGHWAY TRAFFIC SAFETY ADMINISTRATION’S AUTO SAFETY HOTLINE AT 1-888-DASH-2-DOT (1-888-327-4236)."

Default working at a dealership we see this at least once a month and it has been

the floor mat stuck under the accelerator every time. All the fail safes for the drive by wire will put the throttle plates closed. Not saying that its not possible but according to most manuals its almost impossible for the throttle to stick open due to a malfunction

Default With accelerator to the floor, if you step on the brake the fuel should cut back to near idle,

allowing you to safely stop the car. Just curious, did this happen, or did the power remain at full throttle while you braked to a stop? If it remained wide open then there is in fact, a problem with the fuel control. If the power dropped back, the problem may be elsewhere.

Yes, it was the mat stuck, seems a bit of a problem from what I've seen here.

Default Good news! I'll tell Mike Wallace he can go ahead and retire now. :)

He could have made the "sinking" of Audi his final story on 60 Minutes! Glad it worked out fairly simply.

I have an '08 A6 which i just finished breaking in.. The other day i floored the gas to pass, and it remained in downshift mode near redline even after i released the gas, as though it got stuck in that gear. The car may have been in Sport mode, so i figured it may have just been a delayed upshift, but it's a freaky thing because i didn't intend for the car to stay in that low gear at high RPMs.
