OK - this is the part number for the adapter for non-MMI cars - just got the good news that my car is finished, but that they couldn't install the iPod adapter b/c it isn't compatible. I confirmed the part number just now. Looks like we need to keep waiting...

Information from Audiusa, here is the text of an email I got from the:

to be released in Late February. Your local dealership will have the most

I didn't even know you could buy an A6 without an MMI. I wonder if this part works anyway in an MMI equipped car purely as an audio input, without any visual/control interface via the MMI? I'll take that over nothing.

Yoshi, that form letter from Audi you got about "late February"; was that in response to the non-MMI part 8E0051444, or more generally about iPod adapters for the A6? In other words, is there some implicit promise of an MMI-compatible iPod interface soon?

The adapter is C5's Audi has clearly done a poor job making this known to it's dealers and parts people.

The letter was in response to an inquiry I placed about 2005 models with MMI specifically so it is an implied promise of an MMI model in February... although I wouldn't bank on the date.
