The manual for the 08 A6 calls for 10W40 VW 502.00 rated engine oil. Mobil one 0W40 is also approved. I use Castro sythec 10W40 myself.

i do use castrol 10w40 6.9 quarts .my Audi dealer here in west palm use the same.i got A6,2006-3.2
