Sorry I accidentally posted that without finishing it...
It has 153,000 miles on it. I would like to know ig Audis are built to last that long and especially the timing chain.
Thanks

I hate to, because I love ours and it has been solid, but I would advise you not to buy that unless you are in a position to deal with a repair that could conceivably cost as much as the car is worth. Ours is at 83,000 miles now and I doubt that I will drive it for as many miles as that one already has on it. Timing chain is a worry with that many miles but LOTS of other things are too. Transmission, MMI, Airconditioning, It is a long list.

with that mileage its probably been done before. Doesnt mean it wont go bad again, unless audi actually fixed the pathetic weak guides or not. Makes no sense why they went away from timing belts, they just ended up making the usual VW garbage chain design that fails before 100k....

Okay I think I've scared myself into not buying a high mileage Audi. I'm looking into buying a Cadillac cts

What if I add that the car has only had one owner? I could then get the full history then. I found one for $8,500 with 152,000 miles and one driver only.

These cars are just starting to reach that mileage so it is difficult to predict what the major problems will be. The timing chain should not be a problem if the car was maintained properly. I disagree with Prospeeder's comment that at that mileage the timing chain has probably been done before. Unless one of the guides failed service of the timing chain is unlikely.

If you can get the full service history on the car and assure yourself that the owner maintained it meticulously then the car is probably as reliable as any other well maintained car with 152,000 miles. But you do have to realize that any car with this many miles will have bits and pieces that are wearing out no matter what the brand. Things like control arm bushings, tie rod ends, shock absorbers, engine mounts, fuel pump, exhaust, catalytic converters, O2 sensors etc. These will cost more to replace on an Audi than on a Chevy or a Ford because the OEM parts are more expensive and there are few after market suppliers. I have owned Audi's since 1979 and I would say that they have been just as reliable as the other cars I have owned and a hell of a lot more enjoyable to drive.

157,000 on my 05 4.2 so far. I have had no major problems at all. It's been the best car I have ever had, also the longest I've ever run one! I plan to run it till it dies. I'd caution you to stay away from the Caddies! Had one of those with 120,000 on the clock I had to send down the road. It was the worst I ever owned. I spent more on that pile than I'd care to remember.

I'd also like to add that this Audi with 157,000 on the clock is not showing it's age. I have seen other vehicles with 50,000 look way worse than mine. I have the upgraded leather on my sport seats and it just shows no wear! Still has that new car leather/smell too. How that's possible I'll never know.

I am at 121K on my 05 4.2 and feel the same way.
