Hello all. About to purchase Winter tire / Wheels combo for my -08 S-line. I was wondering about the tire pressure monitoring, the package has the monitors but I'd like to install the tires myself, they are being shipped to my home. Will the pressure monitoring system automatically pick up these newly installed tires or is there somekind of setup required by the dealer ? My dear old Allroad didn't have this kind of fancy technology Do I even need these monitors ? I'm pretty good about monitoring my tires .... Any feedback appreciated.

Keke, I'd have the sensors installed unless you want to hear/see the warnings all winter long.


You will re-initialize (via the MMI) the new wheels once fitted to the car. Not a big deal

ok so the warning light would be on .... definitely not something I want to deal with all winter, I was afraid of that. Glad to hear I can do this via MMI and myself. Thanks

you can always turn the system off for the winter using VCDS so you don't hear TPMS beeps. PM me i have the instructions saved if you need them would be glad to save you a few bucks on tpms sensors. I check my tire pressure every two weeks my self.
