Default Tire Recommendations

It is nearing time to remove the winter tires and my Summer tires need replacement. I was leaning towards ContiPro Contact 245/40 R18's. These were the original tires that came on the car (2008 3.2 C6). The reason I was thinking of these tires is that the PO never rotated in the spare and it has never been used. If I match the tires I can rotate the spare into the mix and significantly increase the time until I need tires again.

Even though these tires might make economic sense there are two reasons I am reluctant to order them. First, the reviews on Tire Rack seem to vary widely, some people love them and others hate them, I never drove the car with these tires so I am interested in what some of you think. The other reason is that these are all season and since I have winter tires I could go with a summer high performance tire which would have better dry and wet traction.

Opinions?

I know it may be frowned upon, but on my previous C5 I had sets of both Falken and Hankook...both which I must admit performed wonderfully!

I last had the Falken ziex-ze-912 http://falkentire.com/tires/car-tires/ziex-ze-912

And earlier had a set of the Hankook K106, which lasted a few years and performed suprisingly well in the snow.

If you want the best go with Michelin Pilot Super Sport.

Conti DW's mild summer tire, run them on mine during the warmer months.

forgot to add that my summer tires are Dunlop SP Sport Maxx, which I just installed Friday. In 5 days I'll be installing my KW V1 coilovers should make them ride and look better

I did a couple of seasons on the Cont DW tires. They were a very good tire. However, the Michelin Pilot Super Sports are even better.

Agree... It's the price difference that really stands out to me.

I have always run Continental on my Audi's.
I am presently wearing the following shoes;

So far I love'em. They are worth their money in my opinion if you like to drive hard into the corners, love teaching them rice burners a thing or two about driving.

So my vote is for any Continental.

The Contis are certainly a good value. The sidewalks just roll a bit in the corners.

I am currently running the same Falkens on my summer rims. Their wet and dry handling is OK but now that they are getting near the wear bars they are noisy. I do not know how many miles I got out of them because there were on the car when I purchased it. I think I have put about 20,000 summer miles on them and I can probably get another 5,000.
