Default Tire and Wheel questions. . .

#1 Will the C6 A6 with standard suspension "support" a plus zero size?

#1a Is there a plus zero size tire that makes sense?

#2 What is the plus one size (245 x 35 x 19)?

#3 Assuming identical tire widths and brand/models, what advantage is there to going from 245 x 40 x 18 to 245 x 35 x 19?

#3a What disadvantages are there to the plus one sizing?

#4 Assuming we "all" agree that the HP A/S tires that come with the 18" A/S option are somewhat to a lot "lame" -- would it be better money (in terms of performance gains)to simply go with a UHP 245 x 40 x 18 tire than to upgrade both tires and wheels?

I really like the RS6 wheels (had them on my allroad); but, concerned somewhat about 35 series tires ability to take a pothole and keep on ticking.

Wondering if I would be better served by sticking with 18" tires, but NOT unwilling to go to 19" tires assuming I don't substantially degrade, noise, harshness and ride for the sake of an ever so slight performance upgrade.

My experience: went from stock allroad 225 x 55 x 17" wheels/tires to 245 x 45 x 18" RS6 aftermarket wheels/tires (Falken Azenis ST115's) and noticed a huge improvement.

I have the adequate but uninspiring Continental HP A/S tires on my '05 C6 (18") -- was considering a March replacement with the Falken's (summer only, of course) or the PZero Nero M+S (UHP A/S) -- but the 19" option MIGHT improve the appearance (secondary importance).

Would a change to the 19" wheels and UHP tires (either summer or A/S) be worth the effort and cost?

Default Thoughts:.

I had the dealer put the 19's from an A8 sport on my car (19x9 RS6 looking 5 spokers..)

with 255/40/19 Dunlop 9000's they fit perfectly on my car. The ride performance is much better then all the A6's with 18's, with the Michelin's being the best of the lot.

If you stay with your current rims, or 18" going to a proven tire in 245/40/18 will make a world of difference. The car to me is really a great candidate for 19's or 20's IF you local roads allow..... the previous A6 seemed to look best IMHO with 18's - this new shape seems to really pop with 19's and larger....

If you're going to run dedicated snows then I think the choice is easy.... use the 18's for winter with some 235/45/18's and buy some 19's for summer...

One note the 19 x 9 is REALLY tight on the front control arm with the larger tire - But with a bit more(less ?) offset and a 19x 8.5 rim I think you can squeeze 265/35/ 19's in......

I've got a set of rims and 265/35/19's coming in next week so guess we'll find out...

best of luck !
