I know it's been a while since I've been on, but I've come up with a new issue. lol.
I'm a ski instructor during the winter and leave my car out in the cold often, recently there's been a cold spell and I finally noticed my issue. When I have to open the trunk and then close it, it won't lock and just bounces back. I assume that the trunk latch mechanism just needs to be replaced. I wanted to know if anyone else has had this issue?

This is a known problem. The ordiginal latch design was bad and has been redesigned. You are going to need to get the new latch installed. A short term solution is to spray the latch with WD40, but this only works for a few weeks before the latch won't catch at all.

seconds. cost $200 parts and labor at my Audi dealer and it hasn't happened since. Not that bad; I thought it would cost a lot more to fix.

Yea, mine started to act up when I was on a trip to Niagara Falls with my wife about a month after I bought the car (- weather was a little colder in upstate NY then in Boston!). Pissed me off thinking about the $ it was going to cost me to fix...when I logged onto this forum and presto the answer was already in my garage (but still had to stress about it all the way up and back to NF).

Just to jump in, I've also had this problem on my '05 A6, and it started after the weather got really cold ( < 20 F).
I could try the lube, but since I still have a CPO warranty, I'm going to see if they'll cover this.

What dealship in MA? I got a quote from Audi in Burlington for $350. I bought the latch last week for $49 and will try to install it when I got the chance.
