2005 A6 4.2L
Just got back from the dealership because my ESP ABS light and parking brake light are on.
Per the dealership:
ABS control module is shorting out: $1810 plus tax
Parking brake control module shorting out: $554 plus tax
UGH!!
Anyone have these two issues and anyway to fix these cheaper??
Thanks, Nick

Call BBA Reman and ask if they rebuild 2005 ABS control units. I just did one for a friend on a 1999 A6. Took about 2 hours to remove and replace and they remanufactured the unit for $150. They may also rebuild the parking brake unit.

I would also take it to an independant that works on these cars for a second opinion.

Yeah... not sure how it is a lemon all of a sudden when things go bad on a 5 year old vehicle. That said, some of these units can be rebuilt or replaced much cheaper with used parts.

Could this cause the ABS issue?
Plus, I have a 3rd party warranty, that has the ABS module on it. It should be covered. Dont know why I didnt think of it right off the bat.

Do you know how old the battery is? I would replace the battery. First. With these cars with sophisticated power management modules, when the voltage is low, I have seen all kinds of crazy things happen.
