Default Upgrading MMI without upgrading Nav?

Is it ok to upgrade from v10 MMI (with the two discs) without upgrading your nav? Will there be any incompatibility issues?

I would recommend that you go over the MMI upgrade instructions - they recommend that you upgrade the Nav version (disk) if it is below a certain threshhold - I'm not sure of the consequences.
