Does anyone know if it's possible to use a VAG-COM as a data uploader to import a large number of contacts into the Names directory on a 2G MMI system? I've been manually importing users from my Droid X into the Name directory, but the format of the Audi Names directory is different from my phone, so I end up having to manually edit nearly every field, and it takes WAAY too long.

I'm a software engineer so I could write some code to format my contacts and Name data into whatever format could be imported, but is there even a way to do this using VAG-COM?

I doubt it. To verify one way or the other, contact Ross Tech directly. But can't you import the contacts via the Bluetooth connection to the MMI phone directory?

You cannot import contacts by three vagcom. You should be able to see your contacts from phone contact lost when you calling via bluetooth.

Yeah, the issue is that the way my contacts are formatted on my phone and the way the Audi's MMI Name directory format are don't match up, so when I import contacts from phone to Name directory, I end up having to edit the hell out of everythign to the point where it's not even worth it to import contacts to begin with. At the same time, I have too many contacts to enter them all by hand.

Unfortunately I checked with Ross-Tech directly and Uwe replied that they haven't seen anything in the diagnostic API for the MMI system that would allow custom importing your contacts. :-(
