You preached that it is covered in your TSB....which, as he pointed out, was not very helpful because it is for diferent temps for driver and passenger side vents. That's not his problem.

Does anyone have the part number for this HVAC pump valve, our car routinely blows scalding hot air from the very outer vents while the others blow normally. Just like the original poster noted.

If you actually read the TSB that I referred the poster to you would have seen that the second line reads:

"The outside vents release warm air, and the inside vents release cool air"

In other words, exactly what the poster was describing as the problem.

Had you continued to read the TSB you would have read its instruction to:

"Replace the pump valve unit with part number 4F1 959 617B".

So the TSB also provided the part number.

Perhaps that is why the original poster said "thanks".

Yes thanks from me too. I've got mine to fix for the same reason. Probably just let the dealer do it but if I found a good writeup I might do it myself and save a few dollars. I just hate unknowns. I've never found anybody who has done one.

You are very right sir, I'll admit to being completely in the wrong.

And thank you from me as well!

Apologies for the abrupt and incorrect conclusion.

Mine's at the dealer today, in an attemp to get it off of "Toaster" mode.

And hopefully my Fidelity warranty will cover it. Grrr.

My wife had 2 business trips this week and it nearly roasted her out for a good portion of the trip.

Good luck. ours was done at the dealer on Monday. Seems fine so far. I'm $850 lighter though :-( I probably should have pulled the plenum cover and looked the job over to see if I should DIY. Got lazy.

Mine came out to $612 total, with the 430 for the rental carfo the day.

My Fidelity warranty picked it all up. No cost to me.
