Default Very Tiny Windshield Chips

In the sun my windshield looks like it has a thousand tiny chips. Is there any way to fix this or at least improve it without replacing it? I got the car at about 1 yr old and who knows what the general manager did to this car.

Thanks,
Drew

I'd be interested in the answer to this as well... I have a similar issue - I've tried claying it to no avail.

I have one of these "sliver" chips and there's a company that uses some sort of clear epoxy that fills in the chip and makes it go bye bye. I haven't done it myself, but I have personally seen them do it to other windshields. I guess it's better than nothing. They even file the insurance claim for you if using insurance. It only takes about 20 minutes (to clean, fill, and dry the epoxy in the chip). If I do it, I'll let you all know.

I don't think you'll find anything that will fix/polish windshields that are pitted or damaged by sand where there are hundreds of tiny pits..you can repair a rock chip naturally but start saving your coins for a new WS if it's bad enough that you have impared vision..shop around for prices.

I could be wrong, but some years back I remember this topic coming up. People then said that it was Audi's UV filter coating that they have on the windshield. It is a softer material than the standard glass, thus all of the pits.

KIROS Is right! This is not chips, all have it! It is the coating and glass process! My car is brand new with 12 miles on it, and in bright direct sun it looks like it was in a sand blaster! Who ever is saying its stone damage is mis informed!

Yeah i have those chips as well, I was wondering about that. Thought it was rock chips but I understand the protective layer statement. Actually my wipers have caused some (what appears to be) scratch streaks on the WS, maybe from ice in the past. I wanted to see if I could "Clay" those out.

I've never heard of a company putting treatments/coatings on the outside of a windshield unless it's like RainX, what exactly is this coating...you certainly don't get factory tinting on the outside?
