Default What does the solar panel sunroof do?

Does it power the AC in the summer and power the heater in the winter time? Or does it just charge the battery?

Default not AC but it will power the fans while sitting under a hot sun

The best way to cool down the car is to tilt the sunroof up so hot air can escape while the fans blow air into the cabin. It does not charge the battery at all and does not power the heater either.

Disadvantage is you no longer have a moonroof. either sunroof is open or it's closed.

Default Watch what you park over....

LOL
I parked over a smelly street drain, and I guess between the heat and the smell. Well you know....

Solar panel runs the ventilation fan. Keeps the car at the same temp as the outside during summer.

Nothing....in the middle of winter (in New York)....for me it is a useless option right now.

Too bad you can't hack it to give a battery charge.

Added benefit, keeps the car smelling fresh.

I have this feature, but to be honest not very impressed with it. I notice the fans running when I get in the car, but BARELY.. I assume there are no speed "settings" for the solar panel? Am I the only one that thinks that this feature is a little gimmicky? It does NOT keep the car "cool" while parked in the sun.

I think it works great. It seems like the fan speed is variable based on how much solar power you are getting. I have shut it off to see the difference and it can be dramatic. I drive my girlfriends VW rabbit occasionally and i notice the huge difference. We both have white cars and black interiors. I purchased the car used and i'm glad this option was in it. I am willing to give up the moonroof for this any day.

It a wonderful feature. Just tilt the sunroof and point the vents towards the opening.
