I know there is a city in Italy by that name but are they know for their leathers? I thought it was just an old city with great wine.
Don't get me wrong, I like the leather in Audi's I am just wondering if there is something special about volterra and if the other standard leather is different.

Shown in the pictures is a leather package from Audi Exclusive (special custom stuff).

Volterra is just a new name for what was previously called 'Premium' leather. Audi Germany offers their upgraded leather for a while with this name. Now for 2006 also in the U.S. standardized naming.

Note: My 2005 C6 has premium leather but I dont know if i would really notice a difference to 'normal' leather. At least, looks normal to me :-)

that the sides and backs of all seats that look like leather, actually are leather. It was this way until some time in 2002, when Audi switched to regular leather and premium leather as a way to cut costs.

Leather is still organically dyed and treated to reduce outgassing.

Audi S5 TC

I would much rather have Valcona leather or Silk Nappa leather (both of which are premium only). These leathers are much nicer to touch and much nicer to look at than any leather on the planet. Silk Nappa leather is even nicer to touch and nicer to look at than Valcona leather.

Have it in my S4 and it's very nice. Ordered the A6 without prem leather because I didn't see any point in it.
