I've been searching the entire day but have not found an answer. I have a 2004 a6 3.2 quattro engine code auk. There is a small pipe which comes off the intake pipe just before the throttle body, it has a non return valve on it and dissapears under the manifold. Anyway it's cracked off the intake pipe and I really want to know what it's for. Strangely I have now got 36mpg out the car instead of the usual 30!! This only happened since the pipe broke. I will post a picture shortly.

This one, i have sealed it with silicone until i get a replacement part.

I also have this same issue same hose 2007 a6 3.2. I zip tied it on not sure what its for though.

It is fresh air hose with check valve to crankcase ventilation pipe in engine V compartment. A broken pipe will allow unfiltered air with dirt getting into combustion chamber and crankcase.
