What kind of full tank mileage is everyone getting on their 4.2? City vs. Highway?

Is your engine running cool, which is an indication of bad thermostat?...

If it is, that wil lower your MPG. Also, are your tire pressures per spec? Low tire pressures increase drag, which will also lower MPG.

City driving -- about 12 mpg

95% of my driving is city driving. I have been surprised since buying my 06 A6 4.2 S-line that the average fuel economy typically reads around 11.7 or so.

I agree, here

not noticing a huge difference in gas mileage with the 4.2 vs. 2.7T. I would say 17 city/ 24 highway based on the computer. car has 14K miles now.
