Default what problems can i run into running a 275/30 tire on a 19x8 rim?

i have run 255/35 tires for the past 2.5 years without issues however i wanted to go to a 275/30 tire. Is the tire too wide for a 19x8 rim?

i looked up a tire size calculator and the difference in actual speed/speedometer speed is minimal thus a moot point. My question is strictly what can happen if i run a wider tire 2cm=0.78in

thanks

I've got an 07 S6...I replaced the stock continental's 265/35-19 with Bridgestone's all seasons 275/30-19 and I say the Bridgestone's outperforms in all aspects from traction, performance handling, treadwear, etc. except for ride comfort. Thank's bridgestone for great tires

A 275 tire is 10.94 inches wide. If you put that tire on a rim that is only 8 inches wide you are going to have a safety issue. The widest tire you can safely put on an 8 inch rim is a 255.

Kevin makes a good point. You end up piching the sidewalls of the tire thus causing the tire to bulge up in the center....(think motorcycle tires) thus nagating the purpose of adding a wider tire. You will in all actuality end up having a SMALLER contact patch on the ground.

hi man
I saw your lovely Bordeaux car. What wheels do you have ? I mean J, R, ET? What rubber sizes should you have been shoeing your rims?
Tks

I run a 19x8.5 wheel with a 35mm offset and I run a 245 tire. As far as what size tire you should run on your rims....well it all depends on how wide the rim is. Each tire has a spec on what the rim width should be.
