Default Wheel offset?

I read earlier that the fitment is et48? is this across all models? An after market wheel dealer has told me the new a6 will take et45? But is this recommended, and will it sit further back in the arches?

Default Offsets are actually reverse offsets, so lower ET will push center of wheel outward...

For example, the centerline of an ET45 wheel will be 3mm more outward than your stock ET48 wheel. Does not necessarily guarantee proper fit, since you also have to account for the shape/thickness of the spokes.
