Does the car sync itself automatically when it sees the new sensors or does the dealer have to reset things?
My concern: on one of my other cars the dealer is the only one that can reset the system. This means you will pay the dealer $125 twice a year for this privilege. I think the sensors were another $250 or something making TPMS a very pricey add-on for consumers.
Personally, I check my tire pressures on a regular basis and would prefer to eliminate the system all together...my $.03

If nothing will get damaged...I think I'll skip the sensors. I regularly check tire pressures on my other cars and do it even with the monitors on my summer tires on the a6. Thanks much for the inputs!!

That's sweet. Thanks, Kevin. I just haven't spent enough time with the Owner's Manual to be familiar with the many capabilities.
I see consumer-level TPMS programmers becoming available. They're still $400 -$500.
