Congrats on your New A6!! I also would be interested in a new **** for my MMI or a easy fix for the original one. I just got a new 2007 A6 a couple months back and when we bought it the clear coat was coming off our ***. I not sure if we can buy just the ***, hopefully someone will chime in.

You can buy just the MMI ****. It is available at the dealer.

Awesome!! Do you know how to install it? Do I just pull up really hard on the old one and then just place the new one in its spot?

My MMI **** "cover" fell off a couple of years ago and revealed a steel spindel. The new MMI **** cover was just inserted on the spindel. So I believe that it is just a pull-off and push-down situation. Good luck.

While not exactly cheap, the center MMI **** can be had online for about $32. I looked at genuinevwaudiparts. I replaced the volume **** a couple months ago and I just used pliers to yank up the old **** and pressed the new one on. I am sure the center **** is the same.
Good luck! I know my old one was peeling and ugly, the new one made a huge difference in the appearance inside, for very little effort.
