Default XM receiver compatiable?

Anyone know if the XM receiver from an '06 A6 (p# 4E0 035 593 A) is compatible with my '07? I have Sirius now and really miss my XM. Thanks

I purchased and installed this part in my '07 A6 last month. You will probably need an adapter to connect the car's antenna cable (1 plug) to the receiver (2 plugs). It is called a Terk XM-SP Adapter. I bought one for $20 from Crutchfield.

Don't both services now offer the same channels?

No, to get all of the "best" from XM with Sirius, they charge you more (about $16-17 per month). XM is far more willing to give you a good deal. I've gotten one year's service for $62.99 (primary radio) and 5 months for $20. When Sirius expired on my BMW, they were unwilling to deal.

I can't stand Sirius, to me the sound quality and breaking of signal is far, far worse than with XM. I have had good luck with XM for the past 6 years.

Great news, thanks. I discovered the antenna inputs were different, but as you found that's an easy fix. I'm actually using one of those adapters on the XM receiver in my R32 so I'm familiar. Glad that's the only difference.

No, since the merger there is some channel overlap and you can pay EXTRA for the 'best of XM' on Sirius and vice versa. But the satellite signals are still a different format, with XM's stream being higher quality.

I'm curious: How did you get a year of XM for $63?

PM replied. Basically it was a retention effort on their part after I turned down their offers and said I was cancelling. I know that others have gotten this as well, but it was a year ago or so that I got the deal.

I just renewed 2 radios. One in My A6 and the other in my wife's MDX. I said I was canceling sue to the high cost (renewal came in over $300). They transferred me to another person and immediately offered me the $77 year special on both. They are charging a music royalty fee to the consumer now which adds about $11 to the yearly subscription. I had best of Sirius and had to drop it to get this deal. When football starts, I may call to try to add it again and see what it cost me.

That is a great deal, I've been with XM since about 02-03 and have 2 cars with subscriptions. With my luck if I call saying I want to cancel they will just let me and not offer a discount.
